[Main Ingredients] Oxytetracycline hydrochloride
【Characteristics】 This product is a pale yellow powder.
[Pharmacological Actions] Tetracycline antibiotics. Oxytetracycline reversibly binds to receptors on the 30S subunit of bacterial ribosomes, disrupting the formation of the ribosomal complex between tRNA and mRNA, thereby inhibiting peptide chain elongation and suppressing protein synthesis, which rapidly arrests bacterial growth and reproduction. Oxytetracycline exhibits inhibitory activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Cross‑resistance exists between oxytetracycline and doxycycline.
[Functions and Uses] Tetracycline-class antibiotics. Used to treat infectious diseases in pigs and chickens caused by susceptible strains of Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Pasteurella, and Mycoplasma.
【Usage and Dosage】 Based on this product. For mixed drinking: 200–400 mg per liter of water for pigs; 300–500 mg per liter of water for chickens. Administer continuously for 3–5 days.
[Adverse Reactions] Long-term use may lead to superinfection and liver damage.
[Precautions]
(1) This product should not be used concurrently with penicillin-class drugs or with medications or feeds containing calcium salts, iron salts, or polyvalent metal ions.
(2) Concurrent use with potent diuretics may exacerbate renal impairment.
(3) It should not be mixed with tap water containing high levels of chlorine or with alkaline solutions.
(4) Do not use in livestock with severe hepatic or renal impairment.
[Withdrawal Period] Pigs: 7 days; chickens: 5 days; egg discard period: 2 days.
