    [Veterinary Drug Name]

    Common Name: Chlorohydroxyquinoline Premix

    Product Name: Kerun Keqiu Shu

    English Name: Clopidol Premix

    Pinyin: Lüqiangbiding Yuhunji

    [Main Ingredients] Chlorohydroxypyridine

【Characteristics】 This product is a off-white powder or granules.

    [Pharmacological Actions]

This product is effective against Eimeria species in chickens, including E. tenella, E. necatrix, E. maxima, E. brunetti, E. acervulina, and E. praecox; it exhibits particularly strong activity against E. tenella and also shows some efficacy against coccidiosis in rabbits. The peak of chlorhydroxypyridine’s action against coccidia occurs during the sporozoite stage—specifically, on the first day post‑infection—when it exerts a primary inhibitory effect. Within 60 days after administration, it prevents sporozoites from developing within intestinal epithelial cells. Therefore, to achieve optimal anti‑coccidial efficacy, treatment must be initiated before or concurrently with coccidian infection in chicks. Chlorhydroxypyridine is suitable for prophylactic use but has no therapeutic value for established coccidiosis. This product can suppress the development of immunity to coccidia in chickens, and premature discontinuation of treatment may lead to outbreaks of coccidiosis. Moreover, coccidia readily develop resistance to chlorhydroxypyridine.

When chloroxypiridine is incorporated into feed at a concentration of 125 mg/kg, tissue residues in chickens fall below 100 μg/kg within two days after withdrawal. In caged chickens, tissue residues drop to less than 10 μg/kg five days after withdrawal. However, in floor‑reared chickens, tissue residues can still reach approximately 600 μg/kg five days after withdrawal, owing to the excretion of chloroxypiridine in feces and its subsequent accumulation in the bedding material, leading to re‑ingestion by the birds.

[Functions and Uses] An anticoccidial drug, primarily used for the prevention of coccidiosis in poultry and rabbits.

【Usage and Dosage】 Based on this product. Mixed feeding: 500 g per 1,000 kg of feed for chickens; 800 g per 1,000 kg of feed for rabbits.

[Adverse Reactions] No adverse reactions have been observed when used as directed.

    [Precautions]

    (2) Chickens raised for egg production intended for human consumption shall not be used during the laying period.

    (3) This product can suppress the development of immunity to coccidiosis in chickens; premature discontinuation of treatment may lead to an outbreak of coccidiosis.

    (4) The pullet flock can be fed continuously up to 16 weeks of age.

    (5) In poultry farms where coccidia have developed resistance to this product, quinoline‑type anticoccidials such as olaquindox should not be substituted.
